A number of friends have updated their iPhones/iPads operating systems and lost all their videos, not realising they aren't backed up in the PhotoStream: "Photo Stream supports JPEG, TIFF, PNG, and most RAW photo formats. Photo Stream does not work with video." (http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4486)
To backup your entire device you need to set up backup in your device settings: Go to Settings, iCloud, Storage and Backup. Under the Backup sub-title at the bottom of the screen make sure that:

- "iCloud Backup" is set to On
- Also check the last backup time at the bottom of the screen. If it has not been backed up then start it. Be warned you really need a WiFi connection for this.
