Fix: Windows Error 0x80070718: Not enough quota is available to process this command

This unhelpful message appeared on my computer today when moving some files. I run Active Directory and Roaming Profiles so my first thought was if I’d set a user disk quota, however this wasn’t the case. A quick search pointed me in the direction of:
Control Panel, Sync Center, Offline Files, Manage Offline Files (left hand side), Disk Usage tab, Change Limits
(Windows 7 64bit)

Once I’d increase the disk usage all was well again. Now Why didn’t they put the words ‘Offline Files’ in the error message or perhaps even a link?

  1. Absolute magic. Interestingly, I've had to save most offline files twice recently. This is probably a sign that this was going to happen...
On my laptop i had to take a slightly different route..
Control Panel, SYNCH CENTRE, Offline Files, Manage Offline Files, Disk Usage tab, Change Limits

  37. I am using Windows XP Home edition and I’m getting the same “not enough quota error” but I do not have the Off Line files option available. Is that something I need to specifically configure? I don’t have a Sync Center and I don’t see an Off Line files in MyComputer-->tools-->folder options. I’m only trying to copy a folder from the C drive to new 2TB expansion drive, and it has taken me all morning trying different things and I still get this quota error. This is really nutty.

    1. Are you logged on as the Administrator account? As this will show you the Offline Files, the way your trying. It is hidden to standard users.

Sync Centre is only in Windows Vista/7.

  39. Thanks so much. I could no longer import videos from my Panasonic SDR-H18 digital video camera and couldn't figure out why not. It then started telling me it couldn't find the library (which I could see) When I tried to create a new library, I got the Windows error # and then got here by googling that number. That fix solved everything.

  56. I found loads of thanks for this but I am worried about something. I have increased the disk quota far too many times and its bothering me that the disk quota is going over 55GB for some users after the sync centre has been activated. This is currently happening for more than one users and increasing the quota only seems to solve the problem for then.

  61. Yes, this worked great! The same error message appeared on my previous laptop and my IT guy tried using the Microsoft Cleanup Tool - ended up corrupting the entire file structure. I've noticed that both times I got this error was soon after using my iPhone5 as a modem (Personal Hotspot) while I was traveling. Could this be a cause?

Because they are too big to be held accountable and they won't hold themselves accountable.
